... ago I've developed rectal bleeds. Some are severe and now I'm fequently anemic and on iron supplement. I get cramping pain with the bleeding. Is this normal?
I was put on some & it really tore my stomach up, I cramped so bad coud not move. I can't take iron supplemet pills.
I now have to get iron infusions ( IV ) & that does not hurt me. I you need iron you may consider finding a Dr to set up the infusion. It takes about 5 hours. Believe me the infusions are so much better. They give a small amount 1st, then if no problems they give the whole bag. They also weigh you 1st to determine how much you get.
I hope this helps & I understood the question correctly. If not maybe some one here will correct me.
If you never had a colonoscopy you may consider this. But find a Dr. that uses a anesthesiologist because this way you will feel nothing at all during the procedure. I would not wait to long either you may have a serious issue.
Any rectal bleeding should be looked about by your physicain. If the iron tablets make you have hard stools, it may just be hemmorroids if the blood is very red. Does it stop quickly? I also have to or should take iron supplements, & my doctor reccomends the Ferrous Glutonate, rather than the I believe its Ferrous Oxide. Not as hard on the tum tum, & easier on stools...
