I have been taking Ava (the pill) for years now. Recently I decided to skip my sugar pills and go straight onto my next set of hormone pills, meaning I didn't have my period as usual. After this 3 week set I took my period, and apart from being light, everything was fine. I am just wondering, what my protection rates are now seen as I haven't taken hormone pills in 7 days and because I have 'messed up' my regular cycle.
You can skip the sugar pills and start another pack right away without interferring with your protection at all. Then you'd take all the active pills and allow for the next week for a period and start another pack. You do not take an extra week off to get back on schedule, you just change your cycle a little. That second week you are not protected nor are you protected for the first 7 days of the new pack.
