What your doc is is cautious. Beer especially can raise your blood pressure, something you don't want if you have anything wrong with your heart. You are probably on something like plavix too and drinking and taking tylenol can damage your liver, making a bleed more difficult to handle. What your dr is doing is removing a possible risk.
