I've suffered from anxiety for the last 2years scince the sudden lose of my brother, in the last year it has increasingly got worse. I refused any type of medication as I feel these just mask the problem. My doctor has prescribed propranolol for me to try, I'm anxious to try this. Does it work and do you recommend I try it? It's prescribed to be taken as and when needed 10mg.
I would say propranolol is worth a try as it isn't psychoactive like antidepressants or antipsychotics . propranolol is a beta blocker that helps with the physical symptoms of anxiety which can in turn make it easier for you to deal with the anxiety as a whole. Have you tried meditation or any other alternative treatments like cbt. I think these are things that should be explored before meds. Having said all that propranolol is relatively safe compared to most other meds used for anxiety and depression.
