Does anyone know if 100mg of Prometrium taken daily can help PMDD? I was taking it just the 2nd half of my cycle but every month when i quit taking it I get very depressed I'm assuming from the progesterone withdrawal. My doctor said I can take it all month and I'm wondering if anyone has taken it like this and what their experience has been. Thank you.
You can take it daily, or you may want to first try using an over-the-counter progesterone cream on your off days. Unlike the Prometrium, the cream bypasses the liver. My GYN specializes in menopause and recommended Progest cream. You can pick up a tube at Whole Foods or on Amazon. 1/8 - 1/4 tsp. twice a day is what I use. Works great.
I am prescribed 200mg day 10-28 for PMDD. It made a huge difference. More energy then normal after ovulation, increased sex drive, less weight gain, less mood swings, less breast cysts etc. I was impressed however I expierienced the same thing!! I want it all month. I felt great!
