... I don't have cancer? I get sick after eating and it comes out both ends and have been on promethazine for about 10 years and now was told by insurance can't get it anymore as it for cancer !
Promethazine is often prescribed to patients for nausea and vomiting, among other things, and not just for cancer patients. If your insurance won't cover it you might ask your doctor to try something else, such as zofran (which actually IS often prescribed for cancer patients). However, promethazine is generally fairly inexpensive so if it works well for you and your doctor is still willing to prescribe it you may just bite the bullet and go ahead and pay out-of-pocket for it. I have had experience with both promethazine and Zofran and found that promethazine really works better for me as Zofran gives me a terrible headache when I take it. I hope this information helps and I wish you the best of luck. I know dealing with insurance companies is very frustrating…
This is nonsense!
The only thing I can think of is some have Codeine in it and then it's probably not a cost issue. It will say next to the name if it has Codeine in it.
It's a good drug as previously mentioned and not as expensive as Zofran.
It's definately not for cancer only. Someone is pulling a fast one on you.
Ask to speak with that insurance person's boss and keep annoying them.
