I can get the brand name donnatal, but the price is astronomical! Does anyone have any suggestions? Thank you
My understanding is that the generic donnatal has been pulled from the shelf by the FDA because of issues they have with the various companies not testing it. Supposedly you can still get the non-generic, if you can find a drugstore that carries it. It is still being manufactured but is very expensive. I have taken it for 55 years and hate this has happened.
Donnatal is no longer made as a generic. The FDA has approved only brand Donnatal. My GI doctor said that because this drug is not used as much, so money wasn't be made with the generic. The FDA put a stop to it. My Mother, Aunt and myself have used this medication 50 plus years. Myself have medical insurance to cover a 90 day supply for 2 tabs 3 or 4 times a day. My aunt did not have insurance that would cover it, so she had to pay put of pocket, so she had to pay for 30 day supply and cut down to when it was obsultlly necessary. So you can not buy generic unless you can find an old time drug store that would have a supply left. My pharmacy is well known, so they had other stores ship to them to give me what they could find. This was over a year ago, so most likely you aren't going to find any left. The only suggestion I have is contact the company that manufactues this medication, they might have some assistance.
