I am taking Ursodial and am constipated. can and will a probiotic help? if not what will
No, a probiotic will not help constipation due to Ursodiol.
Take a stool softener like docusate sodium and increase the fiber (almonds, almonds, almonds) in your meals. If you haven't had a bm in 24 hrs. after taking doc sod, you should take Milk of Mag. You don't want a blockage.
I take Percocet and have to be persistent about taking docusate sodium twice a day or I am married to the house with a dose of MoMag.
A probiotic will introduce good bacteria into your colon and improve colon health, so it is probably a good thing.
In summary, a small cup of Greek yogurt a day should give you a good probiotic as would a probiotic pill, but a probiotic won't overcome the side effect of Ursodiol constipation.
All the best to you ~Tony
