Now I am on pristiq. Does anyone have any experience with this med for chronic depression?
I have been taking Pristiq for about 3 1/2 years. 50 mg at first and 100 for last year. Here is my experience.
PROS : Of all antidepressants I've taken, Pristiq has beaten them all by a mile.
Renewed interest in life.
Little things stopped bothering me. Large issues became easy to work through.
Unlocked something in my mind that allowed be to become laser focused at work,
resulting in a promotion.
No sexual problems. ( This took a couple of months )
A good increase in energy.
Actually stopped considering myself as depressed.
Much better interaction with people.
Much better toward self appearance and personal hygeine. ( Although not bad to
begin with )
CONS : For first couple of months, slept like a bear in hibernation unless at work. This went
Missing even 1 day at 100mg caused alarming dizziness. Still does.
Became too talkative around others..
Had to get Dr. to file appeal with insurance provider for them to cover. ( $60 vs. $300 )
Did everything with too much sense of urgency.
BOTTOM LINE : Very good antidepressant. Don't expect real results until a month, maybe two.
Most side effects will subside soon enough. Do not give up on this med too
It seemed to make my depression worse. That's what happens with every one of them
I got off it but wonder if I should have stayed on. I think after 2 years of depression nothing is going to help me
