If when you get to the sugar pills, you start a new pack, there is a good change you will skip your period. And you are protected.
You will still be protected against pregnancy skipping your sugar pills but you may or may not skip your period. It does work for most women but some still spot or have a light flow but it should be shorter and lighter than your usual period. There is no way to know for sure but it is okay to try to skip your period a few times a year for special events.
