I missed 7 days in a row with my birth control and I read the directions afterwards and realized I shouldn't of taken so many. Should I be worried?
You're probably going to feel somewhat sick. What you should have done was started a new pack right when you realized it and used a condom for the next 7 days. Now that you've done that, be sure you still use a condom for the next 7 days of pills. Any time you miss 3 or more you do the above. If you miss 2 you take 2 pills 2 days in a row. You're cycle will probably be screwed up too. How in the world did you miss so many in a row? Its always advisable to read directions before you do things.
You never want to take more than two pills in one day. If you miss three or more pills in one pack, you go straight to Day 1 of a new pack (more than likely the missed pills will make you bleed anyway) and use back up protection for the first seven days as you are essentially starting over and you arent protected again until you have had seven consecutive days of active pills. You probably wont feel well, you may have nausea, bloating, breast tenderness (basically all the PMS symptoms) headaches. Taking that many pills at once does put you at a higher risk for side effects. Most of them are just PMS type annoyances BUT you are at higher risk for blood clots so if you get sudden shortness of breath/difficulty breathing or if you get severe cramps/pain in your calf and the calf gets red and hot to touch-see a Dr immediately or call 911 for breathing problems as this may indicate a clot in the lung which is a medical emergency. Pain in the leg or calf accompanied by redness, swelling, area hot to touch may indicate DVT or clot in the legs so you'd want to see a doc immediately. More than likely you will be fine other than feeling a little pukey-crappy for a few days but just watch for the other symptoms.
