I tried to refill my Nature-Throid this morning. They tell me it's been on back-order for months, and my pharmacy is substituting WP Thyroid. Can't get Nature-Throid any more, but WP Thyroid is made by the same company. But my pharmacy says that they are about to run out of WP. OK, no problem. So I went to refill my Buspirone, nope - no 10 mgs buspirone available by ANY generic manufacturers!! Mylan no longer available. All generic 10mgs. on back order also, not available at present time. Anyone else aware of problems filling chronic prescriptions? I've been taking one of them for 20 yrs with no problems and the other one over 3 years. I have filled both scripts at both Walmart and CVS in the past with no problems. What's up???
This is only supposed to affect the Accord, Mylan, Teva and Zydus products, but some other dosages are available. 5mg is available through Accord and Teva. Are there no other manufacturers?
"Reason for the Shortage
Accord did not provide a reason for the shortage.
Mylan did not provide a reason for the shortage.
Teva did not provide a reason for the shortage.
Zydus did not provide a reason for the shortage."
My 30mg Zydus tabs are also on backorder but the Teva 30mg is available... just have to wait for the special order to come in.
So, yeah, what gives???
My Buspirone has been on back order for months at CVS. They have no mg available. I take 15 mg 3x a day. I switched to Rite Aid and have not had a problem! They have Teva brand which I have been happy with. Maybe try there!
I don't know if this pertains to you, but I get all my prescriptions through mail order. Caremark. 90 day supply. Insurance companies are pushing this. I don't know the reason but I wouldn't be surprised if it was a money issue. My prescriptions always come at least a week early. If you already get mail order I can't imagine why your meds would be late. I also take thyroid meds with no problem. I'm sorry you are going through this. It must be very stressful.
Hi, yes I was told my buspirone was on back order 10mg just a couple weeks ago, I take 30mg a day. My CVS pharmacy had 7.5mg in stock, so I am using them, but very scary to have your meds on back order. I don't worry so much about the buspirone, I've gone off of that before and no problems for 3 yrs at a time, but I always relapsed after 3 yrs. Now being on clonazepam since March 2013, along with restarting buspirone again is another thing, I would not like to have to be off clonazepam because it's out of stock so hope that does not happen
Very scary... Buspar helps with depression at higher doses according to my therapist and keeps my appetite healthy. clonazepam blocks my anxiety triggered sinus tachycardia, it works like a beta blocker with less side effects
My CVS pharmacist told me today the reason my prescriptions of buspirion 30 mg tabs and guanfacine 1mg tabs were on back order had to do with the disaster that nearly wiped out Porta Rica, which is where the major labs are that make these generic drugs. Last month another CVS had my guanfacine in stock, and today, my regular had enough 15mg tablets to fill my prescription of 30 mg tabs. Since the labs in P.R. were knocked out, other manufacturers were overwhelmed since Walgreens, Target and others got their supplies from there.
Normally, I use Walgreens and they've been out of Nature Throid and Armour forever. They suggested that I try a mom and pop pharmacy because they source differently. I went to a small local drug store and voila! They had Armour. At least I'm good for a month. :)
