well do they work together? I didn't want to change too many meds at once. Thank you for any help
It's been my experience that the SSRI antidepressant citalopram used in concert with antipsychotic olanzapine does work well to treat a certain patient population with mixed mood and thought disorders; most often bipolar mania with psychotic features. And while I don't myself treat psychiatric disorders longitudinally--so I am not overly familiar with the proper dosing regimen--I can attest to the favorability and efficacy of this combination therapy, which also possesses a relatively sound safety profile, I might add. Always a good thing.
I've never taken olanzapine, but I've taken plenty of antipsychotics. It's pretty common for people to take SSRIs with AAPs. The AAPs aren't great at boosting your mood, but they're good at keeping it from being low. The SSRI gives you the kick in your step that keeps you from being just flat.
