Never abused or misused my meds at any time. I have been denied this particular medication on several occasions and I don't understand the reason for this. I am a 50 year old grandmother and my panic attacks are returning with a vengeance. Menopause and stressful situations are causing secondary issues. What can I do. Please advise me.
I have been prescribed xanax for panic attacks and severe agoraphobia and anxiety since 18. I have?

I have not taken these meds since 18 but when I need them they actually work. Why fix something if it's not broke.
The Xanax works well for short term control of anxiety and panic attacks. If you are having an ongoing problem with these conditions, there are medications that are better suited to long term use, but must be taken daily. Many of the antidepressants will not only help the anxiety, but also with hot flashes and mood swings from menopause. I would have a good conversation with your doctor or gyn. Either could help you overcome these symptoms.
