So, I was just prescribed Prednisone today. I was in a hurry to get out of my doctor's office and forgot to ask if it was ok to nurse my baby girl while taking it. I formula feed her during the day, so she only gets breast milk at night when she goes to bed, then once in the middle of the night because she wakes up. Any information would be great. TIA!
According to AAP (American Academy of Pediatrics) Prednisone is usually ok to use while breastfeeding. According to Thomson Lactation Ratings the risk to the infant is minimal. Hope this helps a little. I would let your doctor know though, he/she are usually the best judge since he/she know you better.
