when the drug interaction suggests high risk for seratonin syndrome and CNS respiatory something or other. I have also been sick with chest and head congestion tacking Mucinex Dm, and now better but allergies (runny eyes and nasal) so have been taking benadryl allergy capsules. Have I messed up. I'm miserable and can't sleep?
The oxycodone will quiet down your cough is why it is being prescribed right now for your chest. If this is due to your allergies tho', I don't see the point if you are taking Mucinex. That should get the gunk out. Allergies here in the states are running rampant with our warm winter & early Spring. Mine are driving me nuts too! I use benadryl two 25.mg capsuless & a xnax at bedtime to sleep. Another old time trick is to put a small dab of vasoline on the end of a Q-tip and put int as high as possible in your nose right before bedtime. Do both sides, but a different q-tip for each side incase you have a sinus infection on one side or the other. You could spread it to both if you use the same one. I do this & it coats the sinuses while you sleep. I mean a tiny dab too. after appling, sort of massage your nose on each side.
If I don't do this I wake up so stuffed up & then am spitting up flem for hours. An really old allergist told me this little trick instead of antibiotics for sinus trouble do to allergies. I also use allergy eyes eye drops before bed. I do this every night whether I feel like I need it or not. I think if you try it for a couple of nights you may get some needed zzzzs...
I hope that your doctor knows what medications you are on. If you are like me, you have several medications prescribed by different doctors. On this site, go to Mednotes, and they have a WONDERFUL place to list all your meds, when you take them, what strength, and tells you if there are interactions with them. BUT, balbanes was right. The internet can be a curse too! I took Cymbalta with Zomig, which they say is very dangerous for seratonin syndrome, but my neurologist assured me that as long as I took the Zomig according to his directions, I would have no problem. He was right. I was on that combination for years, and I never had a problem.
Interesting though, the meds that you list don't seem to me as being harmful as long as you listen to your doctor, and take as directed. Mary was right about the allergy spray. It doesn't get into your system as badly as a pill would.
HOpe that you feel better soon!
im sure your doc didn't just perscrib you all these drugs on 1 visit, right? Its been over a year or more. so my guess is he/she knows you well enough to know that your tolorent to most or all of the drugs?once your body gets used to a drug you cant look at the interaction chart quite the same way. but its a good sign that your staying active in your health care. keep up the good work... subzero58
