I'm very sorry you are going through this now.
Yes your symptoms may be those of Multiple Myeloma.
The good news is that until symptoms become a problem, they may decide to monitor and not treat.
My husband was diagnosed 2 years ago.
It was 5 years after I went through breast cancer treatment.
Initially, I freaked out about not doing treatment. However, having a healthy lifestyle and going every 6 mo for a blood test is good. It's always on our minds but not going through treatment allows you to forget about it and go about life.
Do you have family that can be actively involved with your appointments?
Do you have someone you can be totally honest in voicing your concerns?
How did you get diagnosed?
You are sure it's the "right" diagnosis?
Do you understand the disease?
I know it's difficult to listen when being told you have a potentially serious disease. My brain kind of shut down so that is why I'm asking these questions. It's good to have someone explain it to you when you are ready to hear.
I believe education is Power.
I will be happy to help you if that is what you want.
Please answer the questions so I have background and I'll explain the treatment when they decide you need it.
The good news is there are a lot of options depending on your situation like knowing you are 83. What is your general health and activity level.
Please let me support you during this initial time when everything is so confusing.
Many people on this site will offer good advice and emotional support.
Take care and don't let this define your life!
