... months ago I had what they queried was a minor stroke (TIA) 2 days later I had another one all the tests came back clear. Then a week ago it happened again with loss of 90% of my speech, numb left side of my face and left arm with weakness in both the arm & leg I went to emergency and they treated me as a stroke patient but again the tests came back clear the symptoms went away by themselves 6-8 hours after they had started so was sent home since then I have been exhausted and at times throughout the day I estruggle to find words which is frustrating the doctor has now told me to stop taking the lyrica is it possible that the lyrica's side affects could mimic a stroke they are also querying silent migraines but I seem to have some residual symptoms which I wouldn't have thought you would if it was a migraine thanks
I have no idea why the tests showed that you did not have any kind of stroke. What tests were they? You might want to get a second opinion from a neurologist. But if you need to go off Lyrica which controls your "myoclonic jerking", I can offer you Klonopin. It has a generic. After my full blown stroke, I had myoclonus which was involuntary jerking. Klonopin, which is also an anti-anxiety medication, has completely controlled it. And I read where Klonopin is the drug of choice for myoclonus.
It has also controlled a low level of anxiety that I've had my whole life. It was so long term, pervasive and seemed very mild, that I never sought any help for it. But what a terrific difference it has made in my outlook!
So I hope that your problems go away. I needed speech therapy for months after my stroke and couldn't think of the simplest words. I don't think that the speech therapy is the necessary cure. It was just trying to come with words as much as possible. So your speech will come back. But going off Lyrica may be the way to go. I wish you the best. I would appreciate knowing how you are as time goes on.
