... it is ok to stop Apriso all at once. It is time for a refill which cost me $250.00. I called my doctor but have not yet heard back from him
I found very little about collagenous colitis that would be of help to you regarding stopping Apriso cold turkey. I've found 1 person who quit taking Apriso, with a diagnosis of UC; here are his comments: "In May of this year, I had a GI appt. and he said we may be [overtreating] my UC. He decided I should taper off the Apriso so I went from 4 daily in the morning for one month, to 3 daily in the morning for a month etc. He said I could go cold turkey or taper off and I opted for the latter. Yesterday was my first day with no Apriso. Has anyone done this with success?? I have to admit I'm waiting [for the other shoe to drop] so to speak. I feel good and only take Metamucil daily. Of course it's too soon to see if I'll actually be okay."
Here is a link to reviews others have made, but none of the diagnoses are exactly the same as yours:
Since the manufacturer has issued a list of side effects that mean you should discontinue Apriso immediately, and there's no mention of tapering off, I suspect you can just stop taking it cold turkey. Here are the precautions that call for immediate cessation of taking Apriso:
