... take one right after the other or should I wait an hour or 2 after taking one to take the next one? I was previously on 20 mg of Celexa and was still having issues with depression or anxiety; and that’s when my doctor prescribed me the Lexapro and Xanax. And in addition I’m pretty sure I also have OCD.
Xanax should be used for situational anxiety. The idea is to only use it when you feel like you are in a situation or having racing thoughts that you are unable to gain control of. But yes you an take them together. Ive taken Xanax for years, and it’s something you don’t want to become reliant on to get through the day.
I don't think it matters when you take the 2 medications. There should be no interaction between the two. Like Celexa, Lexapro is long acting and requires several weeks before it begins working. However, Lexapro is usually taken in the morning or at night. Xanax works within 30 minutes to act on the brain and nerves to produce a calming effect which lasts a few hours.
If your Physician prescribed the Xanax on an "as needed" basis it should be taken when you feel the onset of an anxiety or panic attack or when you are in a situation where an anxiety or panic may likely be triggered.
Take care for now and all the best!
