... and I'm afraid to take it. Help
I think bentyl is similar to hyoscyamine, which is what I take for IBS. I've never had any problems with it. I had a cardiac arrhythmia before starting hyoscyamine, and it has not caused a problem with my heart. Like kaismama said, if you have an uncomfortable side effect, just stop taking it and call your doctor. FDA requires that all possible side effects be listed, but don't let them worry you. Try the bentyl. I hope it helps with your digestive problems as well as hyoscyamine has helped me.
I've taken bentyl, or rather it's generic equivalent dicyclomine, for more than 20 yrs. My IBS is pretty severe and this medicine is the one thing that has allowed me to live a normal life with it. I also have an irregular heartbeat which the medicine has not effected at all. Just from my personal, very positive experience, I would recommend you try the bentyl. Like my other friends here have told you, you can always stop taking it if it causes you a problem. Hope this helps! :)
