I recently had sex the day before I was supposed to get my period. I did not get my period the next day. I am on birth control. However, my reminder to take my pill that day did not go off. I've been on birth control for about two years and I take it on time pretty much every day except for maybe a few mishaps here and there. We did not use a condom, but instead the pull out method. I'm also back at college and this would be my first period being back. I didn't know if the stress of being back at school or the fact that I missed my pill that day could throw off my cycle at all. Please help!
Missing an inactive pill is no big deal, there is no medication in it. It is just a "reminder" pill to keep you on schedule remembering a pill each day. It doesnt increase your risk of pregnancy. You are protected on your inactive pill week as long as you took all the active pills correctly. Pulling out before ejaculation does absolutely nothing to protect you, by the way, for future reference. Men secrete sperm all through the sex act, not just when they ejaculate, so pulling out is a wasted gesture. You are on the Pill so it is unnecessary to pull out and it is not a "back up method" because you are still exposed to sperm. In your case it was okay since you really didnt miss any active pills but in the future, if you do ever miss an active pill, use condoms as a back up because pulling out can still get you pregnant in the event of a missed pill.
