I have been taking pills regularly now for 5 months. Just this month I got married and my husband and I have become sexually active. This is my first week on the placebo pills since we have been married and I haven't started my period. This is pretty normal for me, my period usually starts on the third or fourth day of the placebo pills. My question though, is can my husband and I get pregnant if we have sex now when I am on placebo pills and my period hasn't started yet?
Like any birth control method, there is always a very small chance you could become pregnant at any time during the month. No matter which pills you are taking, most birth control pills are only 99% effective anytime of the month. That said, Birth control pills are made to prevent pregnancy for the entire month, not just the days you take the regular pills. If you are at all concerned I would use a condom, spermicidal or some other form of birth control and contact your Doctor to discuss your concerns.
