I started using the patch about 2 days after my period. It's been 7 days as of today so I have to change it for the first time later tonight. Is it okay to have sex today without a condom? I heard it takes a week to get in your system so I'm hoping its fine.
Yes, after seven days you are protected. Remember though that no contraceptive is 100% effective. With the Ortho Evra patch alone you are about 98-99% protected (using a condom with the patch is added protection). The patch doesnt protect against STD's so condoms are still needed if you are not sure if your partner is infected. If you are in a close monogamous relationship then you can forgo condoms if you wish.
