Started after 6 week postpartum checkup without having my first period. My husband and I used back up birth control most of the time. Is it possible for me just to miss my period while on mononessa or could I be pregnant?
First baby? I can only speak from experience with my own daughter in regards to a first birth.. it took her several months to start her period again. She was fearful. My best suggestion would be to talk to your provider concerning your BC some do and some don't get your cycle a little off. I wish you the best and as I said call your doctor and ask for a nurse.. they can tell you right away if it would interfere with your cycle.
There are a lot of variables here. Did you and your husband have unprotected sex prior to your 6 week check up? Once you started the Mononessa, did you have unprotected sex during the first week you were on the Pill? In this case, I would have recommended back up condoms the whole first cycle but the manufaturer claims you are protected after one week. It is hard to say at 6 weeks postpartum, if you have ovulated yet so it would have been best to use back up the whole first cycle. It is possible that the Mononessa has thrown off your cycle too. If you are at least 4 weeks into the pill and havent bled for your "off" week or week of inert pills, you can do a pregnancy test to see what it shows. If it is negative, you may want to discuss with your Dr why you are late. If it is positive, ooops, you are pregnant again but lets hope not!
