I was fertile the week of valetines and ovulated on valentines day which my fiance and I also had sex that day and for the next couple of days without protection I took the plan B emergency contraceptive after 48 hours of intercourse but I still haven't got my period which I was supposed to start today is there any chance the pill failed ?
First, there is no way you can know exactly when you ovulate. Using a calender to figure it out is only based on an average. Recent studies have shown that only 30% of women are "average" and it can vary for a woman month to month. So do not ever use that calender when it comes to not getting pregnant. Why would you have unprotected sex when you thought you were fertile? Plan B doesn't work if you already ovulated. It delays ovulation. It is a large dose of hormones and often delays periods for around a week. If it is a week late, then do a pregnancy test and do it first thing in the am
Plan b and that ilk are only about 80% effective so yes, there is still a possibility of pregnancy. It sounds like you are sexually active, so why are you not using protection? You should see your gynecologist or local family planning clinic and get on the Pill or some other hormonal birth control that is more reliable than Plan B. Regular birth control pills when taken correctly are about 98-99.9% effective. That beat the heck out of 80% effective!
