It's been 6 days today that we last had sex and want to know if I'm pregnant? What do I do? Is it likely I am? I'm hoping I am want to start a family..
OK a few basics here. While having marathon sex is fun, it is not going to help you get pregnant any faster, in fact, it can be detrimental since it can severely lower your partners sperm count. A woman is only fertile about 3-4 days per month, when she ovulates. Ovulation, on average (and take this with a grain of salt because it is an AVERAGE and not every woman is average or on a 28 day cycle plus the human body is just contrary sometimes) occurs about 14 days after the START of your last menstrual period, so sex needs to occur starting about a week and a half after the start of your period. Once or twice a day is good-anymore than that and you may deplete his sperm count just when you need it most. Getting pregnant is a little harder than one would think. When you are using contraception, everyone warns you not to make a move without contraception but when you dont want to get pregnant, you dont want to take any chances, because it seems easier to get pregnant when you DON"T want to! Next, be patient! Most couples will get the timing right and become pregnant within a year of trying. Some women seem to be very fertile and do get pregnant right away but most women, it takes several months of trying. Try not to be stressed or anxious as this seems to make it a bit harder for some reason. It will happen so just relax and let it happen. You may try one of the ovulation prediction kits if you want to try to get the timing better. Google the "Calendar method" or "Rhythm method" to read directions on how to tell if you are ovulating. While some women use this method as contraception, it is not very accurate for that but it CAN help succeed in getting pregnant if you learn from basal temps and cervical mucus when you ovulate. Sex during ovulation is what will help you get pregnant not marathon sex!
