Could I be pregnant?

- loestrin 24 fe, birth control, contraception, pregnancy, period, gildess fe 1/20
To be clear, I am due for my period next week I am just kinda paranoid. I am on Gildess Fe 1/20 which I believe is the generic for Loestrin 24 Fe, and I am also on Spirinolactone (which I believe is not an antibiotic but rather deals with hormones). I have been on birth control for almost a year now and always take it before bed. The problem is I tend to go to bed at different times. I had unprotected sex for the first time on day 3 of my white pills after the brown pills week. In conjunction with my other medicine and not always taking my pills at the same time, I am wondering if I could be pregnant, which would not be ideal.
Also, does alcohol prevent the effectiveness like smoking does? Thanks in advance for your help.
First of all, let my clear something up. Smoking doesnt render the Pill ineffective, it increases chances for bad side effects like blood clots and strokes. Alcohol doesnt affect the pill but it does reduce your inhibitions causing you to make poor decision about risky behaviors (i.e. having unprotected sex with a partner you dont know). There are no interactions between spironolactone and your oral contraceptives. If you are taking the birth control pills properly you should only have about a 1-2% chance for pregnancy at any time as no contraceptive is 100% effective other than just not having sex. It is best to try to take it within an hour either way of your chosen time for most effective results. For instance, if you pick 9pm then it should be taken between 8pm and 10 pm to be considered "on time". Hope this helps some!
