I had sex of April 6th and we used a condom. Right at the end he cam and then he took it out and saw there was a hole on the side. There was a lot of cum on the sheets. And Right after I went and washed out my area. That night I took the next choice pill. I was supposed to start my period on April 14th and today I am two days late. I have had cramps and my breasts are tender. I am really scared. I was wondering well if you think I am pregnant? Or when I should go take a test.
Next Choice and Plan b and the like can really delay your period. These pills are a big blast of hormones and they can disrupt your cycle. To top it off, they also cause pregnancy like symptoms of nausea, vomiting, headaches, bloating, cramping, breast tenderness etc. More than likely your cycle will return to normal next month or the month after. You can test if you like later this week but most likely you are not pregnant and it is just side effects of Next Choice. Condoms can become weak when they are exposed to heat so a condom that has spent weeks in a boys wallet is likely to tear or get a hole in it. Also remember that most condoms are latex and latex breaks down if it comes in contact with oils or petroleum products so be sure if you use lubricants that they are water based, like KY jelly, not mineral or baby oil or petroleum jelly (vaseline) or anything with an oil base. It also helps to use a spermicide in tandem with condoms that way if there is a breach you will still get protection from the spermicide. Better yet, is to get on a form of hormonal birth control like birth control pills, Nuva Ring, Mirena, Depo-Provera etc. They are very effective. Some have a failure rate of 1% or less when used properly and that is the same effectiveness of sterilization. They are much easier on your body then Next Choice or Plan b with less side effects and much more reliable. If you are sexually active, it may be something to think about and you will avoid this kind of stress. The good news is that next Choice, when taken in the first 72 hours of sex, is pretty effective. It just really messes up your cycle for a while so try to relax.
