I have only had the implant for 3 days and me and my boyfriend had unprotected sex. He ejaculated in me and now I'm a little freaked out. I was told it takes a week to take full effect but it just happened. Can I get/be pregnant? HELP!!
Well that would have made the sex @ day ten of your cycle. Considering that the longest measured sperm survival rate of seven days that puts you in a risky zone (sperm surviving that long is very unusual; 3 days is quite normal; 5 unusual; 7 very improbable).
So the answer is yes, it is possible and no as it is improbable. As the implant has all sorts of side effects, hopefully they won't manifest yet and you will get a normal period. If you get a period you are safe; if you don't, wait until at least 2 weeks have passed after your next period is/was due and then get a home pregnancy test which, I believe, will show a nice negative sign.
Once you have got used to the implant and it is properly seated/located, the nexplanon manufacturers claim a 99.95 success rate in preventing pregnancy.
Good luck, Steve.
