I suffer from severe depression and anxiety and was taking clonazepam prior to becoming pregnant. I broke down and took one today just so I could get through some tough things. Will one really damage the baby or is it repeated use? Worried... thank you
Ask yourself if its worth the risk to the child. It is a category D in the FDA pregnancy warnings, here is the wording of that category:
Adequate well-controlled or observational studies in pregnant women have demonstrated a risk to the fetus.
However, the benefits of therapy may outweigh the potential risk. For example, the drug may be acceptable if needed in a life-threatening situation or serious disease for which safer drugs cannot be used or are ineffective.
