Had sex on Aug 8, the condom broke, but she got her very first depo shot on July 25, the 4th day of her cycle. She has not had her period, and it has been over a month, there are some symptoms of nausea, but nothing serious, is she pregnant? Is the depo effective? Also her doctor said, the shot would take 1 month to come into affect, is this true? Please provide a detailed response, we are very worried
The doctor was wrong. As she had her first shot within the first 5 days of her period/menstrual cycle, she was covered against pregnancy immediately.
Most women don't have periods when on Depo Provera. It convinces the body it is pregnant, in order to work. It can happen that you can get some irregular bleeding until you've had 2 or 3 shots, but it's very common not to have any bleeding.
There is no need to worry about pregnancy.
