... antibi otic (zinnat, cefuroxime) on 25 feb 2012 for se ven days for throat infection and later taken (ranudin tablets, for my acidity problem for 15 days, now when checked for preg ency test , result is positive, i am worried a lot , kindly advice,
Lots of women have taken medications before they knew they were pregnant and their babies are just fine! I know it is a worry anyway. I think you mean Ranitidine tablets (like Zantac?) used for stomach acid reduction? This drug hasnt been shown to cause birth defects. It is a Category B which has been shown to fairly safe for pregnant women. As far as the antibiotic, do you mean Zinacef (Cefuroxime)? It is also a Category B which means it hasnt been known to cause birth defects. However, when you go to see your obstetrician for the first time, you need to let him know that you were on those drugs. If you are on any drugs now, you need to speak to your Dr soon as possible to see if you need to discontinue them. Congratulations!!!
