... Could I be pregnant? I haven't taking birth control or used condoms in 10yrs we have been trying to get pregnant for 10yrs it just hasn't happened yet
If you have been trying for that long, you should see a specialist to see where the problem is. The majority of couples trying get pregnant within a year to 18 months. If you have been unsuccessful for10 years then something is not right. It could be that you are not ovulating regularly or that your tubes are blocked and the sperm cannot meet up with the egg (if this is the case, you will not get pregnant unless the "blow out" the tubes") or it could be that your partner has a low sperm count. Sometimes it is as simple as your partner changing "tighty whities" for boxers. Sperm are more viable in a slightly cooler than normal body temp and this is why the scrotum hangs down from the body. If his underwear are holding his scrotum to close to his body his sperm may be too warm to be viable. Another consideration is if your partner smokes marijuana. Male smokers of marijuana tend to have lower sperm counts. I had a close friend who was trying to get pregnant, like you, for over 10 years. She was a dedicated charter. She checked her basal temp each am and checked cervical mucus every day so she knew when she was most fertile. She had a slight case of endometriosis so they thought maybe it was blocked tubes so she had her tubes "blown out" and still no pregnancy! Her husband was a daily marijuana smoker-not heavy-just maybe a joints worth per day but he decided to try stopping, and after he did quit, it didnt take long for her to get pregnant! They had the first one, then two years later, a second baby so it was the marijuana in their case so if your partner smokes pot, he might consider stopping while you are trying. A good specialist can tell you if there are any other issues. They can give you hormones to help you ovulate regularly and many other treatment options. Sometimes just finding out a reason lessens the stress. Stress can be detrimental to getting pregnant. Good luck!
