Hi, I am almost 8 weeks pregnant with my first baby and I've had a fever since yesterday; I have a stuffy nose and can't seem to stop sneezing. I don't want my baby to be hurt or sick in any way, is there anything I can take to make this cold go away or do I have to suck it up??? I heard acetaminophen is ok if I take a very small dose for the fever... Help! -btw I'm also asthmatic and have no insurance so I'm really trying to avoid getting an asthma attack if I get too stuffy... Please ladies help me, idk what to do. Thank you!
There are many things that you can safely take to help your fever and cold symptoms while pregnant. Your pharmacist is the best person for more information.
Acetaminophen is safe to take during pregnancy and if taken regularly (every 4 to 6 hours) should make you feel a lot better.
Nasal decongestant sprays are fantastic to help clear the nasal passages eg. Sinex, Afrin, Otrivin.
An immune system booster or a multivitamin supplement specifically for pregnancy may be worthwhile too.
Throat lozenges with menthol will also help to clear the nose, a vicks inhaler or an inhalation may also be helpful... and don't forget to drink plenty of water and rest. All the best.
