Dear omega, plan b is usually pretty effective if used within the 72 hour time frame of the unprotected sex dates, but it does NOT protect for any future unprotected episodes. It may also cause her to have bleeding earlier than her normal cycle, or more probably, will cause a delay in her next cycle. Most women say it delays their cycle, but either is possible. Please have her see an ob/gyn and get her on some regular birth control and be extra careful and use condoms and spermicides until the other birth control becomes effective. Many drs are not explaining the birth control pills thoroughly. In order to count on birth control pills, they must be used correctly and daily for the first 21 (active pills) in the pack. Patti
