.Will this have adverse effect on my baby?
Probably wont hurt your baby. A lot of women are on medications when they find out they are pregnant which can expose the unborn baby to 1-6 weeks of drug and they come out fine. This drug isnt a Category X, which is the bad ones to be on, but usually those drugs you are required to be counselled against pregnancy when they put you on them, for example, Accutane requires a form signed saying the patient was counselled to use two forms of birth control and if a woman gets pregnant while on the drug it has to be registered. Toprol is a category C which is kinda of a middle of the road and they really havent seen evidence of harm to the unborn but there have been no clinical trial done on pregnant women so it could be possible and should only be continued in a woman if the risks outweigh the benefits.
One weeks exposure isnt likely to hurt your baby so dont stress on it besides, some women HAVE to be on blood pressure meds/beta blockers due to conditions prior to pregnancy. A small exposure is usually not a problem as long as the mother goes off as soon as she realizes she is pregnant. Try not to worry yourself over it.
when I was pregnant I did have to take medication for premature labor. Not toprol but other kind of beta blocker used for that purpose. 25 is a small doses most likely harmless. Most important of all for your pregnancy try to keep calm, and relax I remember that when I was pregnant if I was nervous my heart will act even more and the contractions will increase.
