Hello Shonni and welcome to DC. The question I have for you is, "do you want to be pregnant"? Maybe another question is, "are you two trying to start a family or at least would welcome?"
There is nothing wrong with that desire, you know. But, do treat your body well and take the responsibility for birth control seriously if you want to hold off parenthood for a while longer. If you do, as others have suggested, talking with your gyn about other... perhaps longer acting methods... may be in order. Maybe a method that doesn't require any thought or advance planning would be beneficial. Even the shot has good, long-term protection without fidgeting for that ring or running the risk of it coming out unexpectedly.
Chosing to be parents is a lot less stressful than being surprised. Surprising somebody else who either believed you were still protected thus safe is pretty nerve-wracking, too.
Like others have said... get yourself checked now and not by the home pregnancy kind. However this turns out for you... it will be okay. Knowledge is power and making informed decisions gives you the control over your destiny and the power to keep on making those types of decisions that impact your life in a positive, fruitful way...
May you be richly blessed and abundantly fruitful in all you set out to do. May your trials be few and your lessons strong... they'll come in good and handy when planning for the unexpected. We all have those... trials.
