normally given prednisone for gout flareup. ALWAYS given script of big dose and then tapered off, for a few days. All of a sudden doc gave me script for 4 pills for 4 days. No tapering off. Voiced my concern but was told I did not know what I am talking about. Is this a normal treatment for Gout? Is it ok to take 4 pills for 4 days with no taper off?
Been on Prednisone for many years. 4 days is not so much that it needs to be tapered. Although it can come in a z-pack, which is a tapering, but maybe your doc just wanted to get a good dose in you for the Gout. No need to worry. ChelleKay
Chellekay gave you very good advice.
He is following his plan for treatment of gout.
More importantly is your communication with your doc.
Whenever I get changes I try to read about it beforehand and present your concerns in a way that won't get his hair on edge. Lol...
Do not let his response from asking future questions. You are the customer and he is getting paid to listen to an intelligent question like yours.
