Went in yesterday because I felt like crap. I get married this Friday. They prescribed me Prednisone 10 mg *3 tablets daily * For 4 days, as well as an antibotic. My concern is A. ive never taken it before, and I'm not sure I want to start a few days before my wedding. can anyone give me some insight. Will I become puffy, weight gain. I literally cant have any of these things for my wedding day. Please let me know any advice you may have!
I am sorry you are feeling bad, as a nurse who has taken Prednisone for over thirty years, I can help. Prednisone, in the context that you were prescribed it, is a boost to help your immune system to recover from whatever the virus or bacterial infection is plaguing you. The antibiotic should also eradicate it, if it is bacterial of origin.
Our body makes CORTISOL helps control blood sugar levels, regulate metabolism, and help reduce inflammation. When we get sick and our body is overwhelmed, and doctors prescribe Prednisone ( which is a medication type of Cortisol ) to maintain function in its weakened state. It will help you recover.
Now heres what you need to know, Prednisone can cause temporary fluid retention: to deter this, limited your salt intake and drink only water to replenish your fluids. Prednisone quickly converts sugar for use in your body, your blood sugar will be elevated, but when it drops you will feel hungry. Have some healthy snack choices ready - raw veggies are great.
You have to take care of yourself. You need a great diet, and good rest to help your body. Try not to stress. Facebook has a Prednisone Support group that has people who understand, they will support you also.
Congratulations on your marriage. You can get through this.
