Depending upon the dosage of Prednisone, prior to stopping the steroid, blood tests need to be performed to evaluate Adrenal function to determine how dependent your body has become to it. This tests can help your doctor determine the rate at which you can decrease the Prednisone dosage. Your Blood Sugar & Hemoglobin A1C also needs to be checked to ensure you are not diabetic.
Mental changes are common with Prednisone and coming off of it might make you more moody/ irritable/ prone to crying spells etc.
Check with your doctor as you do not want to stop or decrease your dosage without proper monitoring.
