Codeine is used in the treatment of pain; cough; diarrhea and belongs to the drug classes antitussives, narcotic analgesics. Risk cannot be ruled out during pregnancy. Codeine is classified as a Schedule 2 controlled substance under the Controlled Substance Act (CSA).
