I was precribed Xanax and my pharmacist just gave me lorazepam, Is that ok?

Xanax is the brand name for the generic alprazolam. Ativan is the brand name for the generic lorazepam. Based on what you have written, no, it appears your pharmacist has given you lorazepam rather than the prescribed alprazolam. Keep in mind these two medicines are similar, but the pharmacist can not replace one for the other without doctor permission.
