My doctor was unaware of this (I think he's a very good and conscientious doctor), and couldn't find a reference to it in a computer trawl. I'm 69 and 10 months, and otherwise using the drug happily.
The risk of complications increases with patient age; however, 70 isn't a magic age at which complications will suddenly arise. If you are responding well to the medication and your doctor knows you're on it then you should continue, but if you begin to notice any side effects you should let the doctor know right away. The warning is meant to ensure those who are older are more cautious, but it doesn't mean the medication is a bad choice or won't be effective. Best wishes!
