I have just finished removing an ingrown toenail, but I just realised that I used a pair of dirty scissors accidentally instead of the clean ones that I put right next to it. I do not believe the toe is infected however I'm not 100% sure if there is a minor one. I believe I made minor cuts in my toenail skin because I drew a minor amount of blood. I'm probably being an overly paranoid hyper-chondriac but might I have possibly developed something serious like sepsis or staph infection and if so how long will it be until i begin to see symptoms?
If you get septicemia you will know all about it as you will see a red trail from the site of the infection following a vein running up your leg. By the time it gets to your groin you have about 12 hours. At this stage I start getting really goofy.
I totally agree with Stephen.
The body has an incredible defense system. Unless you are getting chemotherapy or AIDS or other devastating illness that wrecks your immune system, I would not work.
If you have a local infection, your toe would be hot, red, swollen and probably drainage of pus from the wound. You would feel sick and have a fever.
Septicemia is a life threatening condition.
You would have a very high fever. You would be drastically getting worse day by day. You would need hospitalization or you would die.
I think you are being a paranoid hyperchondriac. Lol
If you get the above symptoms, go seek medical care.
Keep it clean and observe it.
