Hi, I just started taking birth control for the first time ever on the 12th of this month. The first week I took my pill at 1pm but switched to 7am on the third day and contined at this time. That Friday I took it 10minues late, my boyfriend and I had sex the 25th with a condom that broke and he wasnt close to ejaculating so we stopped to use a new one. I just had sex with my boyfriend last night. We used condoms but at the end we had unprotected sex and he ejaculated but not near or in my vagina. I have been on Chateal birth control, today makes a full 3 weeks. Am I protected or should I take a plan b?
You would be too late to use Plan B against the accident on 25th (against pregnancy from pre-cum/pre-ejaculate). It can only be used up to 72 hours (3 days) after intercourse. There is another pill (EllaOne) or a coil that can be fitted to prevent pregnancy, but even they can only be effective if used within 120 hours (5 days).
You are covered against pregnancy after 7 continuous days of using this birth control pill, so you would have been safe. If you haven't taken it late or missed any within the last week, then you are covered.
A tip - When the condom is about to be put on his penis, hold the tip. This prevents air getting trapped inside the condom, as you roll it down. If air gets trapped inside, it may lead to the condom bursting during intercourse.
Always hold the base of the condom on the penis as he withdraws. This prevents it accidentally slipping off inside of you.
