I am 21 years old & I'm 3 months postpartum. I had a vaginal birth with an epidural & episiotomy & I had the Mirena IUD put in 6 weeks ago. My fiancé & I had sex a few times before the IUD & a few more times afterward since the baby's birth. Before the IUD, sex was uncomfortable at first, but became exceptionally easier after the first couple times. After the IUD, it became extremely uncomfortable & we couldn't continue. The pain felt like I was raw in the canal of my vagina, so I don't think it is actually cause by the IUD. I don't cramp, spot, bleed, or anything, it's just uncomfortable while he's inside me, & we've been very easy, gentle, & slow during sex - not rough or frictioning. Based on previous research I've done, I'm thinking it might just be scar tissue from my episiotomy, but I wanted a second opinion. I had my IUD check-up today, but my doctor didn't give me a clear response since the IUD was still in tact perfectly. Also, I am not on any medication besides prenatal vitamins & I am breastfeeding.
