I've had PHN for 4 yrs and not one thing that I have done has taken my pain away from every med you can imagine to having my nerves burned, but because it didnt work for me doesnt mean it wont for you, they most likely will try Gabapentin as it works for alot of people or Lyrica, also antidepressants like amitriptyline or nortriptyline, lidocaine patches the list goes on and on but ya gotta get to your Dr. and get started as most of these meds take about 4 weeks to know if they are even going to work or not. Where is your pain located?? My advice get to your Dr. and get started as it may take awhile to find what will work for you, Ive been at it for 4 yrs and havent found anything yet .. Good Luck to you and I really hope something works for you..
So far a combo of capsaicin lyrica and oxycodone everyday have worked for me the lyrica hasn't kicked in yet but the capsaicin burns so much sooooooo much but with the oxycodone and Tylenol it takes a lot of the sting out and the capsaicin dulls it a bit I hear ya tho I can't believe it can cause such excruciating pain it's miserable
