Hi everyone. I have a question and it would be very helpful if you can answer it:) I had started taking birth control pills(triquilar 28) from November 3rd and have been taking them correctly since that, but I had unprotected sex with my fiance on November 9-11. Some people says wait for 7 days but some people says wait till you finish the first pack. Could I get pregnant? Thank you.
It depends on when you started taking the Triquilar. If you started on the first day of your period then you have immediate protection from pregnancy. At any other time you need to wait for 7 days.
This from the package insert:
"... When no hormonal contraceptive has been used in the past month
Start taking TRIQUILAR ED on the first day of your menstrual bleeding. Then follow the
days in order. TRIQUILAR ED will work immediately, it is not necessary to use an
additional contraceptive method.
You may also start on days 2 - 3 of your cycle, but in that case make sure that you also
use an additional contraceptive method (barrier method such as condoms) for the first 7 days of tablet-taking in the first cycle. "
