For the past month and a half I have been feeling what I think are random depressive moments throughout the week every other day or so. I will loose interest in my homework and regular home life routine. I will even loose interest in doing anything with my daughter who is 2 years old. I am a single mother and full time online student. Nothing has really happened for me to be feeling sad and empty for no reason. I sometimes just want to lay down and do nothing and that is so unlike me. Also, I used to like watching crime/drama tv shows and now I get sad if I watch them. I tear up and just feel really really sad. But its not everyday or all day, just sometimes. What does this mean & will it go away on its own?
Yes, to be clinically depressed you would be diagnosed with major depression or major depressive disorder. This is with the use of the (DSM) Diagnostic Statistical manual where a person must meet many points of criteria. Then you have just general depression or depressive moments such as loss of family member, grades falling, thyroid disorder and so on. If it tends to continue you very well may need to see a medical professional and receive the treatment plan right for you.
